Make sure you choose a lamp that is quite sturdy and not made of glass. From my experience bedside lamps get knocked over quite often and this can lead them getting damaged or completely broken

I feel lamps make a big difference to the look of a room. The room itself gets a new feel in the soft lighting that a lamp has to offer. They are a great investment.
