Home Lamps Design Ideas

Home Lamps: Expressing style is achievable when decorating your home. Consider these basic decorating concerns in creating the beautiful and stylish room you envision.
Theme: Decide on a theme. Knowing what theme you want to achieve will help bring a consistent look to your home. Different themes may include modern, traditional, contemporary, rustic, tropical, and eclectic to mention a few – or some variation thereof.
Colors: Identify an inspirational piece such as a rug or picture to determine your color palette. If your theme is coastal, you may want to incorporate shades of blue or neutrals. If your theme is traditional, strong reds, blues, and greens may be most suitable. Soft colors are typically more calming whereas strong colors are more stimulating.
Focal Point: Identify the focal point of the room. Having a feature wall in each individual room can help give the room an identity and sense of organization.
Accessories: Accessories play a key role in expressing the style or theme of a room – and the home lamp is one of the most important accessories. It is both sculptural and functional. Lighting alone can change the entire ambiance of any room. Yet, table lamps and lighting and accessories are the support characters to the the furniture typically. So, make sure home lamps and other accessories compliment rather than compete with the overall setting.
Style- To Mix or Not: Keeping a consistent style in a room can make a strong statement about that particular style. On the other hand, mixing styles can add an interesting complexity to a room.
If you are unsure of the look you want to achieve while decorating a room, or haven’t decorated your own home before, read magazines/books, watch home design shows on TV, look at the show rooms of new homes, or consider hiring an interior designer.

Concerning themes – is it o.k. to have different themes for different rooms, or should the motif carry through the whole house?
It seems like this may depend on how big the apartment or home is. I would think that, in a large house, one could get away with different looks in different areas.
That’s always an interesting question. I think you can mix provided that there is some continuity – perhaps in color. It also depends how open the rooms are visually …. are they closed from view (bedroom) vs. always open to view (living/dining room)
I agree that themes can be mixed, assuming areas are not all open, and then allowing themes to clash. Don’t forget to add some class to the design.
Thanks a lot for the tips! I agree that the most important thing is to first be clear about which kind of theme you want to achieve for your home.
Thanks for the great advice. I have always seemed to go for the rustic theme as my first choice. However, I like to change up the themes from room to room as long as they are not to contrasting.

I really like the Decoration of home, it gives me a positive thinking. Decoration includes all type of art work like lamp post and traditional art work.
Hey there, great information. Most people don’t give much thought to style, it usually just happens whatever that may be. But I do believe that it is a worthy exercise to go through. My tastes run sort of eclectic I suppose, I like most everything.

I really like your point about accessories and lighting. I think that lighting in particular really has the ability to transform a room completely. My favorite technique is to use lots of small lights scattered around the room, rather than one of two large ones. I think this provides more atmosphere, and the subtle shadows adds to the ‘texture’ and feel of the room.
I love that you mention a table lamp as a key accessories. I’ve always felt that an interesting table lamp and the warm light it gives of can really finish a room nicely.
Thank you for the pointers, we just bought a condo and now I’m trying to at least get the kitchen and living room decorated nicely so we can have guests over. Although now I regret giving away the lamp we got for our wedding, it would have worked great in the living room.

What a nice coloured lamp on photo. Thank you for the transferred moments of decorating. I think that decorating will help me to express myself.
Irrespective of your home decor style, whether it is sleek or rustic, contemporary or traditional, shabby chic or tropical, the right choice of lighting can draw all elements together to create the perfect look.
I agree with Pete. I live with a bit of a collector who cannot resist an interesting lamp. We have more lamps around than most people and guests definitely notice.

I really like having a single theme in a room. I’m not big the the “eclectic” look, but I know it is very popular these days. Always looks like Goodwill to me.
I would say somewhat eclectic. I’m just confused as to what is the best way to decorate this type of home, we live in a tropical area, so I’m not looking to turning it into a southwestern style.
I always TRY to keep a theme in each room, but with kids, the theme tends to turn into the traditional “toy room” theme…ugh!
I agree that you must have a focal point in each room – otherwise the room just looks bland, boring and not unique.
